After researching oil filter sizes for MK2, MK3 Supras and my 22RTE, I've discovered that we can all run the same filter, Fram #PH3614, Baldwin #B223. Since I'm able to buy Baldwin filters through my employer at or near cost, I thought it might be worth picking some up for club members.
A long version of this filter is available as well, #B243. I will check on availability as a larger filter is never a bad idea. ( edit: there is a #B2 which is even bigger yet )
If anyone is interested, let me know. If you think you might have clearance issues with a longer filter, let me know that too. Price should be close to Fram or Motomaster.

The company I work for has a HUGE fleet of equipment and runs Baldwin almost exclusively. Other brands have been tried, but Baldwin has come out on top.

Bob,
This could be great savings! How many in a case? We could work out a minimum purchase to work to an even case or two if that’s needed. How many filters a year would someone use? My car never runs long enough to change the oil more than once a year.
Really grabbing a hand full each would save in the long run. Any Idea of cost per filter?

OK, BT223 price is $5 each, including GST. Fram PH3614 at Superstore is $4.77 plus GST. Same price, better filter. I will pick up a few and hold them, anyone wanting one can PM me. This is the best price I can get, it's my employers cost price and they are already a bulk purchaser, to say the least.
I have opened both a Fram and a Baldwin filter to compare the construction. If anyone is interested, I'll bring them to the next meet. The Baldwin is obviously a superior product when you compare the internals of the filters.

The Fram has a paper element glued to cardboard end caps. The bypass valve is a separate piece that is pressed up against one end of the element without a seal. The Baldwin has the element contained in metal end caps with a bypass valve built into one end cap. I didn't spread the elements out and measure them, but the Baldwin appears to have more pleats.
The filter I'm using (BT223) has an 8psi bypass valve. The application charts show a similar filter with a 20psi bypass (B229) for some engines, but since I want a good oil supply and don't let my oil get too dirty I prefer the 8psi filter. The BT223 is the Baldwin sub for the PH3614. Next week I'll grab some, I'm thinking 10, and you guys can pick them up as is convenient.
I'd just like to add that the chances of harming an engine with an inferior filter are very slim. Changing oil and filter regularly is the most important part, good quality oil and filters just add a margin of safety. Since I can pick these up at the same price as a cheapy filter, might as well add that margin.

ive seen frams blow up, thats reason enough for me :)
and whenever you get some Bob, ill take a couple... im assuming theyre the same size as the toyota filters?
ive got a pretty damn tight fit with the oil pressure sender and the soon to be turbo pressure outlet, so i dont have a whole lot of options for filter size.
must get a relocation kit soon, lol.
