OK, I have this rad leak. It is a t the top easy to get to I have tried JB weld and it did not work. I tried a torch & silver and I cant get it to work.

Does any body know how to fix this. The rad is only 3 years old and has brass ends, thats why it looks different, and all i need to do is seal the crack.

Did you drain some coolant and clean the area well before soldering? Any water or antifreeze on the brass will make it impossible to solder. The other trap is to get the material TOO hot, the solder won't bond to the base metal. Use a good flux, clean it well and try again. If you still can't get it, I can get a little brass shim stock from work and we can solder a patch on it.

Thanks BOB. Sounds like I have done it all wrong. The area was clean. I drained the rad enough so the water level was below the area. I may have got the area to hot though. I will try again later. Thanks

well if his isn't, mine is fine, and if all goes as I'm expecting it to, I SHOULD be parting out within the next week or so :crossesfingers:

Yeah I know about that but I am getting so sick of buying shit for this car. I will try to seal this again then we will see if I have to buy another one.

Bah! Completely fucked! I drained the car & pulled it out and it had a huge split up under the a/c fan mount...Totally screwed! Must have been the "awesome" power I put down at the dyno.

I have to find the mileage from my original bill of sale because I think I have spent $3 a kilometer just to have this thing in my garage.

Bus tickets rule!

We should look at group rates for anger management courses! Maybe come up with a Mantra for when our cars push us too hard.

Seriously though, one of the boys should be able to help you with another rad. I'd like to have a look at the split, see what caused it. Do you think it may have froze? Or, does it look like chemical erosion? (the reason for changing coolant every couple of years) If the brass is eroded away so there's no solid material left it's not worth repairing, but if it's solid it could still be fixed.

This car is a anger management course. The split was caused by impact. The top two mounting points for the A/C fan had been pushed into the rad a little bit. It was hit during reinstallation of the motor this spring. Odd it took this long to leak.

Bet we could repair it then, as long as the damaged area can be realigned. I'll grab some brass sheet from work, a patch would make a better repair than just solder. PM me with your schedule for the week.
