View Full Version : Need help sourcing parts.
Alright. Everyone is hounding me about keeping the 1G-GTE to be original.
I think they just want me to stay slow.
Anyways, if I can find the following list of parts, I'm thinking of keeping the 1G. At least for a while.
I'll need:
- ONE K26 Turbo, External Wastegate and downpipe from an Audi.
- A 1JZ Front mount IC.
- A reputable shop to make a custom manifold.
- A reputable shop to make custom 2" mandrell bent mild steel IC lines.
Once I get that. In go 550cc Injectors, a 2JZ-GTE fuel pump, custom short shift kit, ITG filter intake, Full SS Cat back exhaust (3" from turbo to exit), Wideband O2 Sensor for Air/fuel guage, Boost Controller, upgraded IC bypass valve, a Lexus AFM, standalone air/fuel controller, EGT guage tapped into #6 manifold runner, Machined head and block to put in a metal head gasket, port and polish, debating on nitrous...
And then I'll try and figure out a way to strap a T88 in.

Everybody's hounding you about it because NOONE runs a 1g. Running one would make you a very rare breed, but I've heard some big numbers out of them in Australia and New Zealand. I can recommend some people to talk to if you'd like.
I definitely think you should run it, and you'll blow people's minds when they see what's under the hood.

P.S. Run a disco potato or something like that. I assume your joking about the T88, but it would take until about 8000rpm on that engine to spool it. See what fast hondas are using (T3/T4 if you want to use technology from the 80s).
I have yet to hear "big numbers" on it, and the only info I could find, is what I'm trying to mimick, from a Supra in NZ running 14s.
I have no idea what a disco potato is, and I was joking about the T88, the laughing face didn't copy over.
I was talking to Supra_devil about T3/T4s, and about a possible 2JZ swap in the summer.
Need to get a bunch more info before I go through with anything else.
For now I'm just trying to get some cash so I can buy the CT12 stockers garage tracked down for me, so that I stop fubaring this engine.

no ones running it because there are a great number of better ways to go faster.
originality is the number one shitty reason to do something to your car.
also the number one reason for abandoned projects and the number one reason for quadrupling your budget.
originality =! a good project motivation
what i would suggest, find a goal then stick to it.
if you want to run 12s, find the cheapest and easiest way to go 12s.
if you want to have a 1jz, do it.
if you want to keep the car original, then do it.
but dont waste your time and energy building up the 1g-gte if your plans call for an engine swap in the future.
