I'm guessing discontinued, but I recall that new short and long blocks were available for the 7M-GTE, and I recall that the prices weren't as unreasonable as they could be.
Just looking for ideas at replacing rotating assembly with my 7M-GTE.

I've seen several people claim they got the very last available new blocks from Toyota years ago. I recall the price was around $3500, but that's just the bare block. Your better off to find one to rebuild. Come to think of it I should pm you.

Toyota does not sell long blocks in North America, only short blocks.
11400-42102 - Block, Short; List: $4488.80, Cost: $3815.00 (includes crank, pistons, rods, etc.)
Stock in USA, about 7-10 days to get.
(7M-GE short block is discontinued.)

$3800 sounds like a lot, but considering what machining the crank, and decking the block might cost, and then having something which may not be as good as factory afterwards... I'll keep a new shortblock on the list of possible avenues, though I'll also still be looking for a rebuildable engine (Or one which I can install with confidence as-is) as a first resort. Rod knock is one of those things which has consequences...
