so i have a dilema for my 83 supra. i can buy some aftermarket steering knuckles (250ish shipped) and i can buy a BBK from raptor racing ($1000) which is not a bad route to go. but i like to build stuff, and save money, and showing off stuff i can do for the shop is never bad right?
i've already made prototype control arms for the ae86 to use S13 front steering arms, brakes, coilovers but use stock bushings and sway bar. so i'm thinking, why not do the same here? lots of cheap coilover and brake options, and even if i wanted to use s14/s15 stuff thats 5 bolt its not a problem because my wheels are 4/5x114.3 so no worries.
opinions?

T3 makes mk2 short steering arms for sound $100 that use stock tie rods. Do that and make your own BBK. I don't think that S13/14 geometry would be good for a mk2.

the t3 ones are 216 for just the arms, more with the tie rods, bump steer correction, then add shipping. thats the GB prices

some jzx guys run z32 calipers. id fab up some caliper mounting brackets and fit something like that on there.
edit: not sure if you are trying to fit the entire hub/spindle from an s chassis, also not sure on how the mk2 suspension works. but i love custom work :)

Opinion:
Custom/one-off things are great for cool factor, and for those who can do the work to maintain/repair it are often great setups. Add in that it's built in advertising for the kind of stuff that you/your shop can do and it's all good.
Caveat:
This is only if you can do it to perform as well or better than the ready-made product. If the geometry isn't going to work as well because of a different track and/or wheelbase, control arm length, suspension angle, etc...

its a custom control arm, so the wheel track will be the same, and either way i'll be adding adjustable tension rods and camber plates and won't be using a stock alignment setting. (will set a little more aggresive)
if i do the control arm, then i can bolt the s13/14 coilover in, if i keep the stock setup then i'll end up shortening the strut tube to make my own coilovers. no matter what i'm doing something custom lol. thats life with old cars.

yup, entire hub/spindle, everything from the balljoint up. should be able to bolt the nissan coilover to a mk2 camber plate with very little issue.

Price is 108 for the steering arms. We are getting 2 sets for 216. I can't imagine making the Nissan suspension work is easier than making a BBK and putting on some universal coilovers.

oops, i was wrong, its 216 for arms with tie rods and bump steer adjustments, not 216 + extra for the tie rods/bump steer adjustment. if i was going to order then i would get all of it though. with shipping its $246, assuming i don't have to pay brokerage ontop of that.

$216 is cheap for all that. Almost not worth it to build it yourself. I wouldn't personally use S-chassis suspension on my car, unless I was using just the S13/14 coilovers. The Toyota geometry is superior, especially when the car is a lot lower than stock.

using nissan hubs does not mean using nissan geometry. its still mk2 mounting points.
it would still be stock track width and close to stock ride height, use the mk2 sway bar and tension rods, the geometry should still be essentially the stock mk2.
it will give me more adjustment at the coilover mount since there is some camber adjustment there on the nissan hub.
