i think it looks nice, but i can't see the angle compared to the bumper very well or how far it sticks out, more angles would be nice. :)

I'm going to change my earlier estimate, your definitely losing more than 1hp on that setup. It is reminiscent of a porsche boxter.

in all fairness to power loss considering it is now running 2.5 inch pipe and a dynomax muffler it is still easily over stock numbers, except the fact that it was ratbagged!
LOL

As far as installation, that's a pretty sweet job your dad did, is he a welder?
I thought MKIIIs came stock with 2.5inch piping. But this is one issue I think I could possibly be mistaken on.

no our dads a custom exhaust guy, and they came 2.25, and minus the cat, definately more power

Both cats? Or just the one? Should've gone off the turbo!
That'd be sweet!

it's NA if it was turbo he would have shit his pants the first time i took him for a rip in it!

That's why the 2.25 inch piping then. I think the turbos had 2.5. Yeah, then that exhaust size is just fine for now.

i'm getting 4 inch when i do the engine swap i'm still confused if i should but a 1jz-gte or a 2jz-gte
supra_man89
11-09-2005, 07:56 AM
1JZ will be less money and a lot easier to do, but the 2JZ will give more bang for your buck if you're looking for a higher horsepower, and its a lil more complicated to do than the 1JZ, im looking into doing a 2JZ swap as well, and its well ... quite the hole in bank if you know wut i mean

hey sounds like a pretty pennie but the power will be a plast down the drag strip i saw a 95 supra run 9.5 once and the mkII is why lighter i think
Deep_Blue
11-09-2005, 04:42 PM
Corey's putting his in an 89 MKIII, which is not lighter so he will not gain in that area.

7m better market..
Supra_devil
11-09-2005, 05:05 PM
any M series motor is as good as the other, after a point. unless your rebuilding the block for a full out performance then its better to start 7m. for a full out motor, i would actually prefer a 6m. i can get valves, cams, turbo kits, and all that for it, the intake on it flows nicely, the crank is strong as hell. and so many parts can swap between the M series motors that they really all have the same market, lol.

No replacement for displacement, tired phrase but true. My defense for the 7M>others.
Tim
Supra_devil
11-09-2005, 05:10 PM
6m is a 3L.....
<likes displacement too.
although to make a 3L 5m is as easy as stroking it, it has the same bore as the 6/7m.
Deep_Blue

I know the 6m has 3.0l too, but I chose to ignore that fact b/c that's who I am. The block on the 7m is different, so it can be bored out more than the 5m for sure, and I believe the 6m too. Up to a max of .060. As demonstrated by Kevin M. After that it spontaneously explodes.

all the M series i belive can be bored the same, like i said, same starting bore, also the 6m is the exact same block as the 5m. changes was the crank and rods. i have heard of people boring the 5m as far as .080 to iirc. I am not trying to say the 5/6M is a better starting point, just that for a full build up they are all pretty much the same. for the average guy that doesn't want to spend 10,000 on his motor, then i would go 7m, hands down, in a second flat.
ok, did some reading, .2 L can be picked up with bore, so a 3L 5m, a 3.2 6M. not sure about 7m. don't know if thats the limit, but thats a pretty large increase.

Corey
Actually, you're picking a race, not me, and besides which, after spending $6000 on putting a 2jz in, you will still be making about 40hp less than my car at the wheels on a stock 2jz-gtte. Throw another $1000 on in mods and we'll talk. :D If you want to race you'll have to get in line behind all the other quys that want to race me, and considering I roll with a 320k engine, it'll probably have rod knock, crank walk, spin a bearing, BHG and melted pistons by the time it gets to you  . Furthermore, I still have to go race a corvette for pink slips so that I can get a T56 for mysterious purposes... :jump:
Cheers,
Tim

LOL its all good tim, i guess i did kinda call that one, meh o well, maybe we will race after do end up modding the engine a little bit, sounds like a blast :D

is it that cheap to put a 2-jztte in to a MKII
Supra_devil
11-10-2005, 05:08 PM
ok, time for toyota engine code classes.
g is for performance valves/dohc
e is for fuel injected
t is turbo
2jz in this case is the motor code, same as 5m, 6m, 7m, 1jz, 1g, etc.
2jz-gte
not 2jzgtte, not 2-jztte.
Nissans the one that uses multiple T's fot twin turbo, not toyota.

ok got u so its that cheap to put a 2jz-gte in a MKIII
1jzsupra
11-10-2005, 06:55 PM
its not cheap i bet it would cost around 7-8 thousand for the swap
bboy_leathel
11-10-2005, 07:32 PM
i was thinking of 12-13 thousand for the swap to me this is way cheaper so how much for a 1jz-gte
