To run a new fuel rail with 550cc injectors would you need a piggyback or could you run them on a stock ecu, I have a 1jz was thinking about going for 400hp with just upgrading the fuel system, cams anda boost controller to hold a little higher boost. I'm a small budget, I don't like to cheap out but I know I can gain some hp safely, most I'm worried about is blowing the stock clutch.

*scratch that, just read up the stock 370cc injectors will feed the stock twins as much boost as they can handle without blowing and the japan 2jz 440cc injectors are direct boltin to a 1jz. Is their anywhere I can find these in canada?

You cannot just put bigger injectors in while using a stock ECU without any other mods. Sometimes you can trick the stock ECU like with the 7M lexus AFM and 550cc injector trick, but most of the time you need to use a piggyback or full standalone.

Yeah that was my plan with my old 88 7m thats why I was wondering but I heard the 1jz ecu was much more powerful. So what type of piggyback do you suggest I use? I was thinking about taking it to tilly to get tuned afterwards, would I need the piggyback with just the dropin 440cc 2jz injectors?

Yes.

There are lots of good options for 1J standalones - supramania has some good threads.

I'm worrying about them costing lots of money to get tuned properly though, I like stuff I can do myself so it only costs me the part thats why I was thinking piggyback would be cheaper and easier.

APEXi AFC NEO FUEL COMPUTER is a good piggy back. If you want to use 550 usdm injectors, also get a 2JZ Fuel Injector Resistor. (no point for stock twins.)

If you plan to stay with the stock twins theres no need for the injectors or piggyback. A simple exhaust,ic pipes and intercooler will bring you to 15psi without touching the gates. BUT i heard a standalone on a stock 1j combo "can make" 400+hp

the lexus maf trick won't work on a 1j due to being map sensor based.

stay with a piggyback that can do timing control or full standalone.
recomend greddy e-mange ultimate or a stinger standalone.

Tilley is close but i'm not sure if I would take my stuff there. Either way though just make sure that you are covered, if for whatever reason they tune your ecu incorrectly and it blows your motor.

If money is an issue stick with stock injectors, ecu and turbo's. Get a 3" y pipe, mbc, downpipe, fmic, and you should be around the 300whp mark. The stock turbos don't last long after 15psi so make sure your ready to upgrade or replace them if you want to go to the limit of the stock map sensor (17ish psi).

already got the exhaust done, with the turbo elbow and all. I wasn't planing on running more then 6lbs on each turbo because of boost peak/spike it will really be like 7-8lbs. I guess if you invest in a expensive eletronic boost controller you don't need to worry as much, I was looking at a two stage one with other funtions and two different boost hold features so you could leave it on stock 3lbs for better fuel mileage. I guess I'll just stick with cams and fmic for this summer. I'm also working on a german project I'll have to post up on.

Not sure if you've already got things figured out, but I'll have a set of 2JZ JDM 440cc high impedance injectors (no resistor pack) coming out of the car at the end of the month. They max out at about 400-420 whp (from what I hear).
