Hey everyone!

Duane of CFX fame is selling a supra and he asked me to let anyone know that might be interested, so here;s the details:

Black 1JZ RHD Supra with about 100 000KM on it and some extra goodies (he didn't specify). I don;t know what year, didn't think to ask. For more details on the car itself, please get a hold of Duane if you know how to, or Post questions in this thread and I will relay them to him. Please only post questions if you are serious about buying the car so I don;t have to spend all day getting answers for them.

ASKING PRICE IS 10 000 OBO.

Thanks guys!

Cheers,

Tim

Sent him a PM on SF and gave him your e-mail Anthony, the ball is in his court now, so I guess we'll see.

Okay,

So Duane got in touch with me last night and we chatted for a bit about a few things, and one of them was this car, it just came over from Japan and he hasn't seen it yet, just pictures, he didn't have the info on the car in front of him, so these details are from memory:

1989 Black Supra 1JZ Twin Turbo
just over 100 000km
Has the JDM Folding mirrors (I want these, they're awesome!)
Recaro seats, grey interior otherwise, and in very good condition
It has a key mark along part of the side, but he thinks it would be really easy to fix
Bilstein Coilovers
Volk Racing rims (not sure what size or style yet)
Profec B boost controller (He asked them to install this, but he's not 100% it's on yet)
Exterior is in very good condition besides the key mark

Sounds like a really good deal, the rims alone are probably worth about $3000. He's going down to the docks to pick up the car when he has spare time over the next few days, and then he'll be able to provide complete details. He bought the car so that they could install a lot of parts for him and he could take them all off when it came in (apparently you can get parts from Japan much cheaper this way). So there is some stuff that will be on it that he will take off when it comes in, but none of that stuff has been listed above. He said that if you want to buy it cheaper, he can take out some of the parts on it (for example the recaro seats or the rims) and lower the price. He won't take trades b/c as he says "He owns enough supras, and the only reason he bought this 1J is to get the parts and sell it"

So Anthony, if you want this car, you better sell your car. Duane suggested bumping down the price a bit.
You can call him at his work (CarbonfibreFX) at 1 800 421 9390, and ask for Duane, or you can relay a message through me, either one.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Tim

yeah, its not like i have to sell my car. the cheepest i will go is 10,500, or i will be losing money. Just have to find the right buyer.

then be prepared to have your car for a while. Cuz its not worth that much, its nice, but not worth that much to a buyer. and cars are not a good investment, you always loose money, so if your going to be dissappointed with selling for less, then you'll be keeping it.

I conquer with Glenn.

As I always say to someone who's selling me something for a high price, "It's not my fault you paid too much". That's not a shot at you Anthony, but considering you and Earl are selling your cars through the same methods, and his is cheaper with more power, his will sell before yours.

Good luck selling it though! Should try selling it through other methods (autotrader). Duane said he'll probably have the car for about another week or two before someone buys it, but what a crazy deal. Forgot to mention that Duane said it might have an OS Geiken gear set in it too, but he hasn't confirmed that yet. I want one of those so bad. I'd love to see you get this car.

Cheers,

Tim

conquer eh? I think you meant "concur"

and agreed, selling cars you'll almost never get what you put into a car, thats just the harsh reality.

In Anthony's case, it is possible he can get somewhere at least close to what he's asking, it is a '90 and there are a lot more '89 and prior for sale, which makes it somewhat more rare, and I've noticed lately that its not uncommon for good condition mkIIIs to have an asking price of $10k + in the autotrader etc.

also new or fully rebuilt engine is something thats almost not worth while unless you plan on keeping the car for a while, because its money you're not going to see back, when somebody is buying a car they expect a good engine, regardless of whether or not its an old but well kept engine, or newer/rebuilt one, having a rebuilt engine is a selling point, but it won't get the amount you put into the engine figured into the price of the car.

as gas been mentioned before here, vehicles are NOT investments, its one of the reasons I bought a car I could get and modify on for relatively cheap, since I know I won't see much of what I put into it back if I ever sell it.

Conquer/Concur, it's a joke from the Simpsons Dave.

I surmise that I'd have to punch anyone on the Dean's list at the U of A in the throat for such a blatant and intentional misuse of 'conquer', myself included. That said, I agree that the whole rebuilt engine thing means little to the average buyer Though many Supras like Anthony's sell for a similar dollar figure, they are usually flawless, and the problem with Anthony's driver's side door handle besmirches the otherwise excellent exterior of his car (I believe there is another flaw somewhere but don't recall what)., thus lowering the perceived value of his car.

I want him to get the best price possible, but at the current price, I believe he will have it for sometime yet.

Got some pics of Duane's car for sale. I was going to post them up here, but then got too darn lazy. You need a Supraforums ID to access them. If you don't have one now, I recommend getting one.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325454

Looks really nice for the price, you could sell it for much more.

Tim

I still think there's more avenues you could investigate for selling your car Anthony. I would recommend Bargain Finder in Edmonton and Calgary, the canadian parts of certain forums, autotrader down in Calgary. There are so many more people that will buy your car down in Calgary than in this town. My 2 psi anyhow.

thats true Tim but i also like the idea of me having a 300+ hp supra as a daily driver for an 18 year old, haha.

So now you don't want to sell your car? I don't get it. I mean, I think I've said in the past that I like your car and don't want to sell it, but is that what you're effectively saying?

As far as I know he was selling the Supra for a skyline. I've been telling him all along to keep the Supra :D

bboy_leathel
11-11-2005, 12:27 PM
enless it a 1999 nissan skyline gtr34 nur i wouldn't get rid of my supra for a skyline for 2 reasons why i won't get rid of my supra one i don't like the other skylines as much as my supra and and u can't get the 99 gtr34 nur in canada yes stuck with my supra and never been happyer

hurricanehyshka
11-11-2005, 01:14 PM
i love my supra. the more and more i think about it everything like how many skyline there will be next year vs supras. since it was my first car and ive done so much to it, and know it inside out it will be hard for me to let it go. plus with paint i know it could be uber sexy 100% of the time..

bboy_leathel
11-11-2005, 01:27 PM
so keep ur car if u like it that much thats what i'm doing the joy of driving with no roof or the limited slip the car is a blast and mine as no mods ur must be killer

hurricanehyshka
11-11-2005, 08:14 PM
yeah the targa is another reason why i dont wanna let it go. lol

dualtips
11-11-2005, 11:09 PM
but, a skyline GTR of anykind definately has more potential, but i wouldn't trade mine for the world!.........................maybe the world.

Deep_Blue
11-12-2005, 01:42 AM
A skyline only has more potential if you're ready to sink $50 000+ into it. Don't get me staarted on the blah blah more potential argument.

Anthony, you're indecisive, so I'll settle this for you. If you sell your car, I'm going to sick Herby on you, and that's final.

Tim  :badger:

tim is this RHD 1JZ supra a jza70 model ??

Corey :S

Deep_Blue
11-16-2005, 05:36 PM
Yes,

If it's RHD and has a 1JZ from the factory, and is a mk iii supra, then it will always be a JZA70 chassis.

I don't know which one but I can call him and ask if you want to know the specific on he used. If you just want to know about importers in general, then PM me.
