Anybody else autocrossing on June 6 at the edmonton Garisson? The RX7 club is putting it on. Never raced my car before, should be a good time.

I went a few years back. It is really tough on your tires but you will have a great time. I am not going on June 6th.

Entrance fee depends on the event. It ranges between $50.00 to $75.00
Helmet is required. I believe it is a SNELL helmet and nothing older from 2007? I would check with race organizers to make sure.

Most autocrosses do not have the requirement of a harness. You do need to go through an inspection/tech before the race. This makes sure you do not have any lose parts, or left tools on the engine bay, etc.

autocross ftw! Had a great time and got to explore the limits of my heavy pig. For the record, Falken FK-452 tires do not like heat. By the end of the lap, they gripped like I was driving in the rain.

You guys should come out to Stratotech park..it's tons of fun, and it might be a bit more suited to the Supra's :D

every second Monday I'm there with the p1hpde guys.

what does that cost to do, and what is required of the car?

as far as I understand, stratotech does not allow coolant, only water.

ya they prefer water so that any overheating doesn't leave coolant on the ground, the coolant is more slippery on the surface and is dangerous for the carts and bikes. you need decent tires and brakes and a snell 2005 or better helmet iirc. 80 dollars for an evening. It is hands down the best bang for your buck for the amount of track time you get.

Thats not too bad for cost... by "prefer" water does that mean you can get away with coolant? A complete changeover is a complete pain in the ass...

i think if you just don't say anything about it they won't ask or check. but if you overheat and dump coolant they may not be happy and may ask you to change it for the next time.

I would say that if your car is prone to overheating and peeing all over the track, switch to water.

good, no overheating here.

Yeah they don`t physically check your rad and overflow tank for water. I will leave coolant in only on cold days, on the warm days I always switch to distilled water, cause I would feel like a major douche bag if I spewed coolant all over the track.

it`s worth the 20 minutes it takes to switch from coolant to water.
