I just wanted to post this link from some guy with too much time on his hands. It covers the basic manufacturers of oil filters & had some recomondations.
I do not know how old this is.

Since I read this writeup a while back I can't bring myself to put a Fram filter in even the lowliest piece of crap. Fortunately my employer has Baldwin filters in stock, they're all I run now. My price is about the same as buying a pos filter from the store. I'll look into prices for filters to fit the 5 and 7M engines, and post here.

Now thats good news...I wonder who makes the Motomaster (Can Tire) ones?

i use toyota, same price as anywhere else, i buy the boxes of ten so i get normally 15% off. Good quality, prelubed seal, and they fit better.

I have cut Motomeisters apart myself (a filthy habit I picked up from working around diesel mechanics) and found them indistinguishable from Fram. I believe Fram also makes Quaker State, as well as a few others. That's what makes them the biggest manufacturer, not necessarily the best.

I wonder who makes Toyota's filters?? Maybe Wix, or even Baldwin, they both put other labels on their products.

Nice find!

Where's the 'Kralinator', lol. I was a light marine mechanic a few years back, i used a lot of Kralinator filters on the large diesel engines. Imagine my surprise when I bought my '84 and what do i see down below, a big honkin' green kralinator. i wonder if the filter had anything to do with the hole in the block.
