Hey i was just wondering on what the word on the street would be about putting these in for my new suspension. They seem to be quite popular and wouldn't cost too much to upgrade my suspension to. I am still also looking and putting in coilovers but not sure what to do yet.

Peace

Hi Dilsky,

Great question!

The Eibach springs are good springs. They are much stiffer than stock and help to aid in handeling. Eibach sells lowering kits. The kits or springs are a great replacement for the car.

As for the Tokico Shocks, I would avoid them like the plague. Everything I have heard about them for the MKIII is bad news. They have a great warranty, but if you need to replace them after 10,000 kms then the warranty only goes so far. They call them the "Tokico Blues" for a reason. :D This problem is only apparant for the MKIII Supra. For other applications the reviews have been excellent! I personally have not had experience with the Tokico, but I am leaning towards raising my do not buy sign.

I would suggest you look at the KYB GR-2. They are about 10% Stiffer than stock. You can pick up a pair at Autorolla. That is where I purchased mine. Talk to Rick at Aero Car Parts too. He may be able to hook you up with a set too.

Hope this helps!

Tokica HP's are a good cost effective shock. You can't beat getting good coilovers but thats a lot more costly. Eibach, i'm not sure of any specs for the mk3 but they are a good reputable manufacturer.

if I can recall correctly, the eibachs are progressive rate springs, so they're a nicer ride for the street but not quite as stiff for the track as something like the suspension techniques springs.

I am also currently looking at a set of Tein Super Street Dampers which also seem like a good deal.

I would probably go with the coilovers. They cost more, but you buy them once, and then you can have them rebuilt after that. CALL TROWA. He's selling his Tein FLEX for about $1400-1500 or so, and that means you aren't paying shipping to have them brought in. Good deal!!! If you want to go the springs and shocks route, I would go with the eibachs and konis for a cushier system, and bilsteins with eibachs or H&Rs for a stiffer system, lower system (really low), I've heard more than enough good things about these, but I have heard tokicos sometimes blow their seals really early after installing. Check on supraforums and search, there are tons of threads regarding suspension on there. I didn't mention this I don't think, but I just ordered a Cusco Front tower bar, so I am getting rid of my TEMS and also looking for suspension. Whatever you get, let me know what you think of it (I may just go with the full stiff mod on the stock system for now).

Cheers,

Tim

Don't forget the cost of brokerage fees, and I believe that your estimate of only about $100 shipping is a little low.

Once again, I'm going to have to refer you to Trowa on this one, he knows the differences far better than I do. Might have something to do with rebuildability or something... either that or stiffness and adjustability. He explained it to me a while back when I asked, but I couldn't tell you for sure. And is that 1000 US or CAD? Also, Trowa's coilovers have like 300km (wild guess, but I know it's really low kms) on them, so they pretty much are brand new, you can always haggle with him. If you do purchase new, get them through Suprasprt, because Mike know's them and I'd like to get a sponsorship from them so we can get cheap stuff :D

Cheers,

I have the Eibach Pro Lowering Springs and Tokico shocks installed in my car. They were in there when I bought the car but comparing to a stock car that i test drove (it wasn'tt in good repair) the handling was noticeably better. Just this week I took an on-ramp @ 100km/h and the car felt like it could have pulled even harder. The trade off is that the ride is very stiff. I feel every crack in the road. Keep in mind I also have 17" wheels which decreases the amount of dampening/shock absorbtion available in the tire...therefore making the system even stiffer.

k well thats beauty thanks for the help, yea right now i have 17's on my car as well so i would probably ahve a similar effect. I am not too worried about feeling the road though cause right now i feel every bumb as i float off of it and then bouce for the next 100 feet haha. And the roads back home are pretty good as well. I am still stuck in between going with that setup or the coilovers though. Depending on how much i can find the coilovers for will make the final decision. I got quoted from one store for 1450 in store so thats a bit higher than expected, so i am gunna have to keep looking around.
Thanks

K the latest price for the Tein SS dampers is $1172.42 shipped right to my home from horsepowerfreaks.com and yes that is in Canadian dollars. So right now that is looking to be my best bet but i still got about 7 months to make up my mind haha.

That's a really good deal Shawn! Maybe I'll go that way in a year or so (more likely FLEX with the EDFC though)

I hope that Andriy could help you out some!

Cheers,

Tim
