Good idea for a thread Corey, it's been pretty quiet around here!
I'd buy too many parts to list, and I'm on my way there!
Oh yeah, and an enzo, and a hitman to kill one of the other people with a million dollars, so I would have two million dollars and could buy a porsche Carrera GT too, and a Lotus Elise, and too many more cars to list.
Cheers,
Tim

SP58GT with an RPS tubular manifold, either that or a Garrett something-or-other.
Tim
P.S. You seem pretty interested in this, you don't have $50 000 kicking around do you?
supra_man89
10-19-2005, 09:16 PM
lmao no no its just after i drop my 2JZ i want some intense turbos ... and i just realized i dont really know ne thing about them hahaha
Corey
Deep_Blue
10-19-2005, 09:21 PM
Well, if you're really intense, you don't want two turbos, you want one turbo... one big ass turbo <cough> T88. It depends on your desired power levels and spool up time. It's going to take a lot of research, but I'm sure some of us can give you a hand.
Any leads on a 2JZ yet?

well i was thinking of renewed import but when i call they never answer, and when i e-mailed them they told me to call them LMFAO but i guess ill just leave them a message and hope they get back to me, does ne one know of a better place ??

If you just need an engine (+tranny, ECU, etc. just not front clip), I've heard good things about JDM source down in Calgary (www.jdmsource.ca) . That's the only place I can think of, but they'll probably have to order it. I'm not going to lie to you: it's going to be pretty expensive to do, so I hope that you have some coin.

i save :D
supra_man89
10-19-2005, 09:37 PM
haha but yea so basically you think i should go for the single turbo ??? why, what would be the advantages of it, it mean like for me i want like crazy horse power and acceleration, i want to say for street racing *looks around* but everyone know street racing is illegal lol yes so a single turbo you say ??

Well, there are a lot of people on here that can offer opinions, but that's all they are is opinions, b/c none of us (with the exception of two I think) have 2JZ engines under their hood and can tell you what works and what doesn't. If I were you, I'd go to www.supraforums.com, and maybe talk to Supranick (not sure if that's his screen name anymore) or some of the other guys that have actually done 2JZ swaps and have experience in the area.
That's what I'd do anyhow (another opinion) :D

well if I happened to have 1 million bucks land in my lap, I wouldn't just build one mega supra, I'd buy a house with a very large multi car garage, to store my whole line up which would be:
* a mid '70s celica ('76-'77 or so) with a supercharged or twin turbo 1UZ-FE
* a mkII with a built up 7m-gte, coilovers, stripped down with a cage (the racer)
* a jza70 with HKS twins or single turbo (the highway king)
* mkIV, with a clean basic kit (lip, side skirts etc.) nice deep dish wheels, full stereo (show car)
* a MkV if toyota actually makes one..
if I were to go single on a 2jz, I'd go with a ball bearing turbo, because big power is nice, but it's sucks when you have to wait to 4k rpm to make any of that power..
hurricanehyshka
10-20-2005, 04:19 PM
as for my cars would be simple. I would have a 500hp daily driven mk3 supra (1jz or 2). then i would have a mk4 supra and a r32 gtr both done to the nuts. Both with twins. for winter i would have some huge 1 ton chevy with those tracks for tires:)
Deep_Blue
10-20-2005, 05:10 PM
Anthony,
I like where you're going with that, but my winter driven would be a porsche 911 Carrera or a Gemballa modified Porsche Cayenne (because 450hp just isn't enough). As for a 500rwhp daily driver, that's what I'm workingn on right now, and I much rather go with the 7m because it is a more streetable engine than the 2jz or the 1jz. Oh yeah, and I'd make my Cayenne tow my full-race supra (those who have talked to me know what this car would be like) to and from the track on a flat-bed, while still passing cars on the highway. :D
Cheers,
Tim
supra_man89
10-20-2005, 06:30 PM
yeah for sure i love skylines ... and RX7's .... and mk IV's lol i agree i would have the same line up... except for winter i would have like a jeep or something, jeeps are cool :D
Corey
p.s. i still havent found an MKIV clip yet :( can someone send along info for places besides renewed import ?? thanx 400 million times infinity <- lol

10-20-2005, 07:59 PM
the Porsche Cayenne is a girly car man, lol and besides who said that my truck would be stock for power, hehe
Deep_Blue
10-20-2005, 08:40 PM
A Gemballa Cayenne puts over 750AWHP (Closer to 800 I think) to the ground, I'm pretty sure it would smoke your truck. And besides, who says I wouldn't modify my Cayenne even more after getting it back from Gemballa?
I mainly chose it b/c it has an outstanding AWD system, so I wouldn't slide off the road. And uhhh....
YOU"RE A GIRLY CAR, MAN!
J/K
As for you Corey, I already mentioned this, but I'll repeat it in case you missed it: You should check out JDM Source in Calgary. They're close, and they can get you what you need. I'm going to talk to Nick on SF about it and see what you need for the swap. I'll do some other research too.
Cheers,
Tim

No Problem Corey.
So, I had a look on SF (Can't you just get another e-mail account for this?) and found an amazing thread that tells all about the swap. I'm just going to post some crucial information for you right now though Corey, and you'll have to look up the rest on the site, b/c there is too much for me to transcribe.
this is courtesy of Streetnight... this should help you out, also check the 1jz swap thread in the tech section.. some of the same things apply however its easier to swap in a 1j... you may want to consider that route.
ok guys 1st lets keep this infomative no flames casue i want ppl to be able to read this and learn something about the transplant
1 2jzgte
2 harness both the 7m and the 2jzgte
3 u need a 89+ round mount cross members some 89s do have square mounts to beware of it
4 turbo headers or manifold for a single turbo (unless u plan of fu<king up the fire wall)
5 turbo ur choice
6 motor mounts the 2jz would be ideal cause of this http://homepage.mac.com/chips/PhotoAlbum3.html
7 ecu-either stand alone or 2jzgte
8 fuel pump either the tt fuel pump or a walbro 250lb
9 elec fans cause the 2jz does not use the sameones also helpsout on parasitic hp drop
10 hybrid clutch and fly set up (if using manual)
11 tranny (well depends either 1jz bellhousing for the r154 out auto tranny or a getrag-v160 which involves alot of work)
12 ic
a 2jzgte swap is not really exensive as ppl thing if u do the work ur self u can get most of the stuff for about 3k engine and harness and some times ecu the manifoldif u dont have hi hp dreams and want about 600whp u can get a cast manifold they work well ppl like arnout are using it they sell cheap for about 500-700usd fuel pumps are like 100bucks if that turbos well u can get a t04e for about 300bucks off ebay or a t66 for like 800bucks
then theres the 1jzbell housing is like 300bucks from the 1jz guys
and the the ic u neeed the one end in one end out type u canget a decent one from alot of ppls for about 500bucks and most are pretty nice ic piping is going to run u from 200-400bucks ujst depends on how they are finshed misc. is about 500bucks from bolts to other stuff oh and clutchs u can get a rsp clutch for like 400bucks orsoo soo all and all its like 8gs and u can have a 500+whp mk3 if u want to do all the work ur self
if u want some one else todo it for u the guys in sofl do it for about 2k last i have heard but dont quote me on that cause itwas thru word of mouth also if u are going to put a getrag(v160) in its going to be anywhere from 1k-3k just for the tranny the clutch is just about thesame and u need a diff drive shaft(reason i cant use the one that titan is making aldo i like it and its prudy) and u need a new tranny support made up cause its diff and ur shifter is going to be in a diff spot(from what i have heard of but i have not done mines so it can be true or not)
ppl ask me why is mines so high price y i am putting over 20k in to a 90na well i am looking for hi hps and we all know thats not cheap plus right now im young only 22 and i make enough cash to do it cause i have no one else to worry about execpt me so i think for me its worth doing it now and when i stetle down later i can say i did it and i know alot of u will remember my car so all and all i do it cause i love my car and i know what im doing
so yes im a lil fu<ked up in the head cause im pooring all this money in to a 13year old car but hey if i dont do it i will look back and regret it later which is something i dont do often so it would stick inthe back of my mind for the rest of my life
hope this was informative too all the ppl who wanna know about the 2jzgte swap and about y i do what i do
also some stuff can change like price and the word of mouth stuff
and yes i have bad grammar and my space bar keeps sticking so of u dont like how the first few words are compose block me and yes those are 5 long sentences
That should really help Corey, and alsothere is a guy selling his complete 2jz swap from his car for a good price on Supramania, and there is more information on there. You do not need to sign in to get on, so you could just browse. I'd pick up the swap probably if I were you. Hope that helps more!
Cheers,
Tim

which one, what should i be looking for ??
thanx

I would go R154 manual with the 1jz bellhousing, or if you like being parted with your money, go with the 6spd out of the MKIV, but it takes some fab work to fit in. I don't recall whether or not the autos line up, but considering the auto in the MKIII is a peice of junk anyhow, you should definitiely change it up.
Cheers,
Tim
hurricanehyshka
10-25-2005, 10:30 PM
uh, i remember the guy at silverstone telling me he took a sledge hammer to a mk3 to get the mk4 6spd to fit, lol. whats his name uhg???
ps id proly want to get an upgraded diff aswell.
Supra_devil
10-26-2005, 12:48 PM
no need to upgrade the diff. as long as you don't drive like an idiot the diff will last more than long enough to sort out any other bugs.
yes the V160/V161 (6 speed) is bigger than an r154, frankly at that point i'd go get a T56 (6 speed from vettes, camaros, vipers, etc)
its smoother, smaller, and stronger. win win yo.
the mk3 auto is fine as well, just not as strong from the factory, i have heard of many people using them and putting down very
impressive times/power and the trannys still holding.
A v160 could be fairly cheap though, especially if he gets a half cut for the swap (by far the best option IMO). half cuts include
trannys :)
hurricanehyshka
10-26-2005, 05:38 PM
i mean like a lower gear ratio??
supra_man89
10-26-2005, 06:24 PM
yeah for sure im definatly going the half cut way, so u think tranny's from vipers and vette's eh ... sounds good to me, "yo" <-- lol nice glenn and yes im seriously gonna take the into consideration ... i mean even tho auto's in MK III are pieces of junk with their lower gear ratio and all, i just dont think i can will myself to fling a sledge hammer at my supra haha *looks to car* "i still love you baby"
hahaha
