Sorry, not to sure where exactly to post this.

My question is I am currently looking at buying another JZA70, only problem is the car is an AUTO car. My last JZA70 was 5 speed, definitely made it interesting with the 5 speed, and now with the power loss of the AUTO how big of a difference does it overly make?

I am going to use the car for mainly my DD and hitting up the drag track on weekend's I know it is nice to be able to boost from a dig which is very helpful.

So yeah, what do you guys think about the JZA70's in AUTO form, worth picking one up or better off to wait for something else to pop up or even swap it?

Thanks!

You should still be able to break 88MPH and activate the flux capacitor to make time travel possible.

I do not think there will be a big difference.

If you're looking for a DD, then I see no problem at all with the auto. The auto will probably be faster on the 1320, too.

Why thank you for such brilliant reply, must have taken a lot of time to think of it. :bounce:

I'd rock it. Brake boost is your friend.

haha, brake boost is fun and all, but honestly I have only had 5 speed cars, is this going to be boring as hell in auto?

Any no one at all thinks it will be slower then the 5 speed version?

My 5 speed had a

HKS Fcon Vpro
2JZ Crank Shaft Pulley(Ultra Light! ha)
Full 3" turbo back
Stage 2 Centerforce
Blitz Intake

Would this thing feel like a slug compared to it do you think?

An auto will give you nice consistant track times.

The power loss will be of no concern if you are a crappy stick driver.

I think you lose about 15-20% ish in power on an auto.

As for the reply...it took me .5 seconds to think of it.

For the most part, the auto vs manual, in terms of 'speed' isn't really a debate, it's more of a preference. Some people aren't good at driving manual transmissions; thus they will be faster with an auto. Others are better at driving manuals and will be able to get better results with the total control the manual offers. However, as the margin of error goes up, times go down... on a drag strip, most of the 'big guys' running really fast times rely on automatic transmissions.

The autobox in a Supra isn't a slug, but to be honest, if you're used to a manual transmission and you switch to an auto you're likely to be dissapointed when DDing it around town and cruising on the highway. The auto is nice in stop/go traffic and it'll give you an edge at the 1/4 mile track... but to trade those two rare occasions for the fun of driving a manual just doesn't make sense.

I'd take the manual any day of the week.

Plus I can guarantee that a R154 can be build MUCH stronger than the stock auto.

i got a stock auto mk3 with the 1jz twin turbo i love it, living in Calgary and commuting on Deerfoot in morning and afternoon rush hour is a breeze no worries about go from stop to go and using the clutch, and i especially liked it when the typical Honda would come up try and race and u hear his down shift and i just stab it to the floor and go from meh to HOLY FUCK BOOST! and spank the shit out of him and besides brake boosting is awesome! i bought mine in intentions to do a Y pipe to a 3 inch turbo back FMIC and a boost controller and have fun and be consistant at the track. and with a tune make 300-350 whp and have that as my daily driver. i was gonna sell my 1991 Turbo R for a 5 speed turbo car but i love the supra. and now that its parked for winter i can finally work on it and have it come to life!

in my mind auto.

once i get mine running again, i'll be saving the 300 American for the patch harness from Dr. tweak to put my 30-6100 into my AUTO jza70, come tax season titan will get a call for their S2 trans with 3800 stall.

you know, little things :)
