View Full Version : November 13 Meet
Deep_Blue
10-17-2005, 11:43 AM
Hey there Everyone!
Decided I'd be the first to get this up on the forums. At the meet we had on October 15 meet we decided when and where we'd have our next meet. Here are the results:
Date: November 13th, 2005
Location: Downtown Boston Pizza (Jasper Ave. and 106th St.)
Time: 3:00pm
So that's where we're going to be, and we'll jointly decide the time on this forum I suppose, as I don't recall talking about it at our last meet.
Over the winter we're going to decide what we're going to get involved in next season, and at the meet there should be plenty of opportunity for you to express your opinions and let us all know what you're car is going to be doing next season.
Come on out and get some good food and good times!
Please post in advance if you'll be there so that we know how many tables we need to book!
I know I'll be there!
Cheers,
Tim

Hahaha I had a 91 Tempo, with the 5 speed, floored through the first 3 gears and it felt like you were a race driver...you would still be doing 60kph but the car seemed to be going so much faster.

Yeah, I notice this too. It must have something to do with the final drive, b/c you accelerate and it feels like it pulls like a beast, you shift through the first three gears-but then you look at the speedo and you still wouldn't be breaking the speed limit in a playground zone. :dunno: My dad's corolla does the same thing, gives me a good fix when my supra is away. Sure I got my ass kicked by that one FD, but I beat that one Focus (all in the same race), someone remind me to bring my timeslip
Seriously.
Cheers,

Just to Remind evyerone:
THIS MEET IS COMING UP IN TWO WEEKS!
Just thought I'd bring it up so that everyone can check their schedulaes and makes sure they can make it.
If I can figure it out before the meet, maybe we can do some sort of quick e-mail out to let everyone know that doesn't check these forums on a regular basis. Can we do that Dave/ Anyone else that has an answer for me?

Hi Fuzzybabana,
No worries on the Sentra. I still have mine with lots of parts? What model is yours? Mine is a 1992 B13 XE. I have a few aftermarket parts left, many body parts. No front end body parts. :D If you need something let me know and I can hook you up. :D
Everyone else,
I am in! Dave is right, unless I get a tow truck to haul my beast to BP's and then to tow it back I will not bring it. But why go through all that hassel when it is easier to fire up the Avalon and drive it! I will be installing my new Axles on Saturday night.

The LRT drops you off right across from the BPs downtown if you get off at Corona station. IT"S THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE!!! Just get in touch with me Shawn and we can head down there at the same time, or we can go with Glenn and not pay a cent. If we do that then I call shotgun (AKA the one that inhales all the emissions from the crappy exhaust).
Cheers,
Tim
P.S. Glenn, we should hook up my Ceramic DDP on to your car for kicks and added speed. Not like I'm using it...you think that turbo spools up fast now, HA!

Hey Guys,
I think I am not going to make this meet. The Avalon is in the process of reassembly. I have just replaced the timing belt, need to install the tensioner, need to bolt up the # 2 timing cover, re-attach the engine mounts and tighten the flywheel. Then there is no gaurantee that I can drive it. With all the force that was applied to the passanger side drive axle. I have decided to admit defeat and take it in to Toy Tech tomorrow morning. I will let them replace it. :D

Hi Tim,
I would have cought a ride with someone but I was under time constraints. I wanted to get everything back together before today Monday at 8:00 am. That is when the car is going to Toy Tech. Everything is back together now and the car is awaiting its operation at Toy Tech. Judging as how the rest of the project was running I did not want to loose valuable time. I will be writting a review on Toy Tech after I pick up my car. So far I am very impressed.
Had it not been for that stubbern drive shaft I would have been able to grace you with my presence.
As for the Haynes, I find they sometimes have good information, yet lack clarity. It is most unfortunate that the timing belt removal steps according to Haynes were in the wrong order and there are extra steps involved that do not need to followed. Once I had located the TSRM online for the 1MZFE engine and followed the Toyota proceedure I had everything bolted back up with in minutes. I honestly think I could have had it done in 1 hr to 1.5 hrs had I located the TSRM first and followed that. I did have one casualty though, I did strip one of the nuts that secures the alternator bracket to the engine. A quick trip to Part Source allowed me to pick up a new nut and fix that challenge. A thank you is also owed to the last min help I was able to recruit, whom is the master at removing striped bolts and nuts. :D
