This winter I will be having some pieces ceramic coated. If anyone else is planning to have any coating done we should approach it as a group and maybe save ourselves some money. My time frame is pretty open, I just want to be ready for spring.

Post if interested.

i want my IC pipes done, i am also considering getting the hot side of my turbo done. I am also looking at doing a IC buy with a couple guys at Global Heat Transfer, i don't know if they do coatings as well, but if they do we can make one big deal for it all and maybe save some more money.

well I don't have the money right now, but if this happens a bit closer towards spring then I'm definitely up for it. like Glenn I might get the exhaust side of my ct26 coated, also I'll see about things like the IC and various other small peices.

I'd be interested in having the exhaust side of my CT done as well. Depends on how much it is.

hell i might as well do the turbo manifold too, lol

my cousin says its ussually 100 USD for a turbo hot side

yeah, manifold would be nice too, don't really know of any other way to keep it looking good (and keeping things cool underhood) that won't start cracking/wearing off with heat and general wear..

Randy coated my downpipe for me when he made it, and it cost me and additional $120 CAD (it was the first one he ever ceramic coated, he now charges $130 US), so I can't see a manifold or a turbo housing costing more than that. Maybe I'll have my manifold done to. I could do it at the same time I do my MHG.

Well, the more the merrier on this GB!

Cheers,

Tim

OK, we have some interest here. Does anyone have a local connection for this type of work? I will look around but I am starting from scratch.

I'll be asking at Global Heat Transfer, Barry's shop does some work for them so hopefully that alone will get us some sort of deal, or at least get our foot in the door for one.

I need to talk to him about who to talk to and what all we are looking at exactly, like numbers. I guess i'll talk to you at the dyno day about it.

western hard chrome may do it... i know there are tons of shops like that around my area, so ill start asking around.

global heat transfer probably does it though, im fairly sure they offer thermal coatings for intercoolers, which are a similar product, just opposite side of the spectrum.

Calling all interested parties! I will be going ahead with this in January, please let me know who's still interested. At the moment I'm leaning toward Perfection Powder Coating, talked to a guy there who said he could give a "cash" deal for small runs. I'm still open for input if anybody has an alternative.

Hey Bob I have a possible group buy on DDP's for the MKIII and those that go for it may be interested in getting them coated. Keep an eye out on the DDP GB thread.

Took the header and downpipe in today to Perfection. $150 for both parts, done in satin black. Now that I've seen the place, I recognize their display from Powerama. I'm confident the work will be good and the header should look wicked in black!
