Hey Jeff, curious as to how much one of these will cost, and then how available it is, and it should work with arp head bolts for my 7m

the best thing is to take a 14mm 12 pt deep socket and grind/machine the outside so it fits in where all the bolt heads/stud nuts are. I have one if you want to borrow it.

I've been to several stores and can't find a socket :(
if I could borrow yours it'd be great, I'm out and about right now, if I could pick it up today, just pm me back

I did NOT have to grind my socket at all. (Thought that I would, but I didn't.) It was a 3/8" drive unit, and fit around the cams as long as you rotate them.
You should be able to get a 10mm allen key socket at most decent tool places, or Canadian Tire even.

Heh yeah, been to several crappy tires and different parts stores, nothing, they looked at me like I was on crack or something :p
funkycheeze said I could borrow his, so just waiting to hear back now

Gregg distributors has them. That's where I got mine.

Got mine from Partsource.
edit: If it's the 12 point deep socket for the ARP studs that you're looking for, Princess Auto has them on the individual socket rack.

I'm a little bit confused by this thread, since you are asking for the 10mm Allen SST for the stock bolts, but are mentioning the ARP bolts. They use 2 different sockets.
Stock headbolts = 10mm Allen-hex Socket
ARP headbolts = 12-point 14mm Socket

Yeah, I didn't know they were different until funkyheeze told me yesterday

Okay, perfect. :)
As long as you got what you needed. Good luck with the build. :)

My craftsman toolset came with a 10mm 3/8" drive allen key socket, with a 2" length, more than perfect for the stock headstuds.
I ordered my 12pt 14mm socket for the ARP's from NAPA. IIRC, it was $12 or so. It did take me a while to find the socket... House of Tools found one for $25 bucks, Craftsman and Mastercraft don't make any 12pt deep sockets. In the end, a phone works a thousand times faster and infinitely cheaper than driving around the city looking for stuff.
