That's weird...
I have NEVER heard of anything like that.
I doubt anyone on here will know anything specific for you, as I'm willing to bet it is only with the 1G, and you're the only one that has one here.
My7M has never made that sound though.
I'm interested to find out more, might do a little research.
Cheers,
Tim

crap, it was working this morning, sorry for the dead link..
I found a version on the google cache, here's what was posted
Found it myself. Behind the left side of the digital dash (RHD). Small
metal can with two wires, yellow and Light Blue-Red. Unplugged and
"fixed" with a sharp blow from a large hammer.
Regards
Tony

I suppose this must be a safety feature in Japan, perhaps for drivers that fall asleep or simply aren't paying attention. My older brother fell asleep driving a few years back, and basically when he fell asleep his foot just dropped on the accelerater, he was woken up by his old Mercury Topaz bashing itself against the rev limiter like a baboon trying to get out of a cage just moments before the car crashed into the side of the road. He got out fine, but the car was trashed.
That's my view on it, I wonder if the 1JZ has the same thing?

its weird all JDM cars have it, its very annoying in the skylines and fairladys, its because in japan the max speed limit is 80 Km/h so if you go above that, the chime goes off to let you know your breaking the law :D

Then why does it go off at 110km/h? To let you know that you're going 30 over the speed limit? :dunno:
That seems rather arbitrary, and doesn't Japan have a superhighway? The speed limit would have to be over 80kmph on that thing. I remember reading about that in SCC...

If you do a search on Supraforum.com you will find an old thread.

Other forums may have info on this too.
My head almost exploded from the noise coming home from Edmonton, and I could hear it over the music.

Even on the 8 lane highways, you are only supposed to go like 80 kmh
The speed dinger is annoying I drove a AE92 levin for 5 hours, ding ding ding
Take aprt the dash, the little box actually says "Dinger" on it.
Smash the $#@% out of that gay box.

so many things about japan are gay... how did they ever learn to make cool cars.
i heard one of those boxes once, it IS extremely annoying, after 5 minutes i was offering to take it out, free of charge, or hell, even pay to take it out.
