Hey guys,

I'm not well known to the Supraclub but i love my 86.5 as much as anyone would. Recently I discovered that my head was cracked. Also my bottom end was going. So you guessed it, i got a new rebuilt engine. I'm still na only because a turbo swap was out of my budget.(17 year old) I got a new head and a new bottom end both rebuilt from toytech. It is costing me $3200 but it should be done within the next few days.

When it comes out of the shop i am putting on a K&N fipk. With that i was wondering if taking out my catalytic converter would have any performance benefits. Would it sound any better as well?

Before my car would overheat i raced my 2 good buddies. They have a 88 300zx auto na and a 89 v-8 firebird. When i raced those cars both those cars i lost by a car in the higher end in both cases. Is it just because my na is actually that slow or how much performance could have been lost from having a cracked head and noisy bottom end?

Thanks for any feedback!

**If anyone has a k&n fipk
or winter tires for sale let me know!

you should have taken the 300 for sure, and the firebird, depends on if it was stock.

i don't know if there is a FIPK for the supra, but if there is i would very much recomend it, it is good for power. cutting out the stock cat, defeinetly, get it replaced with a piece of straight pipe and you'll pick up power for sure, at this point the stock cat is quite likely clogged as well so its time anyways.

thanks!
i know i was really disappointed with the 300
but my rematch is already agreed on with both the firebird and the 300
i also have a race with a 3000gt stock na
i cant wait
btw. the firebird owners claims to have a chip to give him extra 30hp (hes an idiot when it comes to cars)

Hi everybody!

K&N does indeed make a FIPK for our cars

http://www.suprasport.com/product.asp?itemid=135

It is also sold by MVP Motorsports.

I hope that helps.

IMHO the APEX-I Filter is better, and some tests done agree, but I don't believe they make it for the N/A.

Cheers,

Tim

supras weigh a shitload...so the power to weight ratio might have come into effect...especially with a NA

there still fast enough to beat those cars, Daves was pretty quick, but a 4.30 rear end is definetly a part of that.

except not all people have the facilities to do a swap themselves.

Once i move out i'll probably be willing to do a lot opf work for the supra club since i have the know how and tools and aexperiance, but till then people will need to go to shops.

I can do a 7mgte into an mk2 for 3000 or less, if i don't do it "right" IMO and rebuild the motor and use lots of new parts.
