hello people i just joined this supra forum. im from edmonton and just bought a black 1jz supra from japan. look out for me ill be pulling it out as of now. im wondering how many rhd supras are in the city anyways?

Hello and welcome to the site!

Did you import the car yourself or did you buy it locally? As far as I know you may have the only RHD Supra around. I know one was imported 2 years ago and it was up for sale this spring. Other than that I have only seen Soarer’s RHD in this area.

This, of course, is only what I have seen around and I don't get out much. Others will add more info soon. Can you get the car to Bud Park tomorrow for the Rally thing? I hope to get out there to watch around 12 or 1 o'clock.

cool, yeah I know somebody who has a 1jz swapped GA70 in lethbridge, but thats the only other one I know of in Alberta. I'd love to see it, I was thinking about importing one earlier this year before I decided to go mkII

i dont think his supra is in edmonton yet, the first month of production was 1990 aug, im hearing the boats are super backed up with the dealers 06 models comming in the small import companys have to take the back seat :( i would love to see this supra when it comes in :D

everybody says its august, but the first production codes for JZA70s were actually in april 1990. there are a fair amount of GA70s with the 1jz swapped in around though. the backup is brutal, I'd be choked if I'd put down money on a car and couldn't even have it before the summer driving season was over..

oh shit im sorry guys i was missed informed about the car. when it comes to mk3 supras i have a decent or pretty much newbi knowledge about these cars. the day i was gona buy it i discovered it wasnty a jza70 but a ga70 (210hp 203tg) i think. i looked at the vin number and noticed it was totally different . i was pretty dissapointed as i was excited to buy the 1jz version but without giving my hopes up i bought it anyways and im not regretting it ay all.


my friend imports car and i was lucky to get a deal off this car from him and yes the car is in the city and on the streets

ah ok, well a 1JZ would be nice, but you've got a couple things going for you..

- unique, your car is the only 1G-GTE supra I know about in alberta
- the lightest weight mkIII that can be had

stock it doesn't have a lot more power than a NA MA70, but more power is easier to get out of it
than an NA. the bigger turbo engines have more high end potential if you're looking for big power, but from what I've read
it should be able to handle anything up towards the 300hp mark without a lot of issues.

got any pics of the car yet? if so post 'em up, we'd love to see them.

you'll have to come out to a meet sometime too, I've never actually seen a 1G, seen every other supra engine, but not that one.

I've also never seen a 1G, maybe you shoukd dyno it to get a baseline :wink: !

1G 2L straight 6, not a lot of torque, revs high, no aftermarket parts available in north america as it was never offered here.

want a 1jz, we saw a 1jz GA at suprafest.

still trying to get pics. only ga70 in the alberta? wow haha. i came from an rx7 to a 240sx and now to this so i dont have a big knowledge about the mk3 supra however i have a decent knowledge of many cars so im getting more into the supra thing. ill try and make it out for one of the meets for sure. theres too many rusty ugly beaten down n/a supras in this city. i mainly got this car for the rareness and chance to own a mint supra.

The GA70 is my buddy's I did the importing on it, and the single turbo conversion.
Too bad he sucks at driving lol.
I have 2 JZA70's, both Dark green.
One will be my 1.5 JZ monster machine, the other will be up for sale in the spring.
I have another friend with a JZA70, and another with a RHD MA70
