hey guys. wondering if anyone can help me.After the supra club BBQ, I drove into calgary and stopped at my work. when I left, my wife called so I pulled into a parking lot to talk to her. while talking to her my car was idling normally , then my check engine light came on. my car didn't run bad or anything.then it turned off about a minute after it came on, and didn't come on again, until today. I drove up from Okotoks to ranchlands,(nw Calgary) and it had no check engine light on the way up, and no performance problems at all. but when I left there to come home, I hit the gas around a corner,(to have a little fun), and the engine light came back on. And once again it turned off about 30 seconds later. No performance issues until I got to just leaving Calgary. I was on mcloud tr where the speed limit is 80, and the cops love to radar there , so I was just cruisin doing about 85kph in 5th gear, when all of a sudden it started to loose power. It kinda felt like I was running out of gas, that kind of loss of power then it would kind of come back, then it would go again. So by this point my car was slowing down to about 60, and I was getting ready to pull over, thinking it was going to die, but then it went away. I made it home and it didn't do it again.
I guess it would be hard to pull a code as the light doesn't stay on.
Any one have an Idea as to what's going on?
thanks.

Last time my car coded 34 it went away and was still stored in the system when I checked it later. It should still be there as long as you haven't pulled the battery out of the car. All you need is a small piece of wire to check the code.

Thanks man. can you also use a code reader? or is it just easier to use the wire?
(just asking as I have a code reader)

I honestly couldn't tell you. I've never used a code reader before.

This link goes to the TSRM page that tells you how to connect the terminals.

This link goes to the TSRM page that has most of the codes.

You can go forward and back pretty easily in there.

your car is too old to use an OBD code reader.

so it gave me code 22. (water temp. sensor signal)
would that have caused my supra to loose power the way it did?

Well.... according to the TSRM you have a short in your water temp sensor signal somewhere. Could be a harness unplugged somewhere. Could be a fried wire. You'll have to trace the circuit and look for any damage.

The ECU of the supra will detune the engine for pretty much any code. To of course prevent further damage.

When my knock sensors coded it would stay detuned until the next time I shut the car off. This means all my boost goes right out the wastegate. Of course that is fixed now.

so I replaced the water temp. sensor that goes to the ecu and reset the codes. so far so good. no check engine light and no hesitation.
Thanks for the help.
