What's up guys? looks like a pretty sweet site. I hope to get some information and stuff out of it.

I'm also looking for a 88 or 89 Supra. Prefferably turbo, low km (under 250, 000), and midnight blue. Red is fine though.

I'm driving a Beretta and it's time to upgrade :P

A Beretta, definitely time to upgrade. Hopefully people around here may be able to lead you to a nice new ride. Keep your eyes open. Lots get listed locally (Edm/Cal) not necessarily on this site.

I'd recommend definitely getting a turbo, really the only way 88/89s were meant to be. Otherwise it is kinda like buying a V6 Mustang, you know what it could have been. Be sure to check for BHG (blown head gasket) unless you want to freshen the motor up anyways, which is a good idea. Seeing as these motors have somewhat higher mileage, and likely haven't been driven gently during that time.

Good luck. Where are you located?

Beretta has been good to me, but i like my cars and it's not much of a car.

Classic Supra with head gasket problems lol. And you couldn't pay me to drive a mustang haha.

Located north-central Saskatchewan, 2 hours from Saskatoon.

I like how 250k km is considered low ;)

Welcome to the club.

What is your time frame?

In the spring I will have for sale:

An 88 Turbo 5 speed LHD Canadian Spec.
Targa
Pearl White Exterior
Burgundy Leather interior
207,000 kms
Rebuilt motor, ARP head bolts
Full load including TEMS. Front TEMS were replaced about 1.5 years ago.
All seals replaced.

Or... I might throw up my 91 Turbo 5 speed with electric sunroof, Super Red paint, Charcoal cloth interior and a huge list of mods.

The price on that one would be around $15,000.00

What????? Mike, what is going on?????? Big new project? Moving off the planet? I like the 91, but I may be already commited to another project. Sunroof is a rare piece.

Sorry to hijack.

I did not say I was leaving the Supra field, nor the planet. Mind you I hear Mars is shaping up to look like it has potential. Lots or craters to do racing. :D

I might put it up for sale and see what happens. I may go for a MKIV. I am not sure yet.

Try to avoid anything that has a BHG, as that it might have been overheated in the process causing the head to be weakened (via annealing). This will make the motor more prone to BHG's in the future.

Because the head is cast aluminum, it is already in a fully annealed state when it is made, and it is not heat treat or artificially aged. Overheating the engine can cause a breakdown of the headgasket, as well as warping of the head that can make it more prone to blown headgaskets in the future.

What do you think of that. I offered him 3200 and he said probably.

Oil leak = danger. Find out what's leaking. M-series motors are fun to fix stuff like that on.

Other than that, good deal if it's a strong runner.
