Hmm, some of you know me and some do not and this is relevant to my interests.
All you really need to know is that the Edmonton supra people do a pretty awesome christmas dinner and somehow I've gotten conned into organizing it for the past bunch of years.

Weeelllll, this year is a bit short notice but it'll still be awesome.

I propose to have christmas dinner on a Sunday, at Tom Goodchild's Moosefactory.
They do a magnificent Sunday buffet for around $25/person, or there is table service with a great menu selection, prices varying from $15 to $50 for an entree.
Dress code is not set in stone, but dressy casual is requested.... no grubby t-shirts please :)

The dates which seem most appealing are December 7th or 14th.

Please post which of these two dates you would prefer and whether you will be coming solo, or accompanied.
I will find out when last chance for reservations is and update post accordingly.

i'm in, no idea on solo or not, and don't really care on the date, i will make either one work.

14th preferable financially, but I'm in, and most likely accompanied.

That's a pretty busy time of year, but I'll make it if I can.

Hey guys,
I wish I could be in town for this but my schedule does not see me going there any time soon.

Thanks for doing this at the last minute.

Hey,
I would love to but my current ride (1983 RX-7) will not get over a snow drift i'm sure.

I still may come in the spring as i need to come out at least once a year.

Merry Christmas every one,

Wow, low interest this year, only 9-10 people.

Too expensive? Bad timing? No exposure? Lack of interest?

I'm in, either day.

azrael

This will happen.

Also, I'm good either day. Still prefer the 14th, but 7th is fine.

It looks like the 14th might be a better option for me.

I can't make promises, but I'll try to be there.

Alright, I'm going to call tomorrow and make a reservation for 12.
I may end up just getting a table in the lounge, it is a bit more relaxed environment, with the same food available and better music IMO.

Will follow up with details.

You forgot "unable to commit"! I'll be there, as long as nothing family related pops up. Dad's always the last to know.....

Add me to the "Unable to commit in advance" list.

We still don't know what day?

dogstar
11-24-2008, 11:33 PM
No, we don't know what day, because people don't seem to care. :p
Guess I should have made it a poll, but it was so much work, and I am Le Tired.
Soon as I can confirm a day I'll post up.

Well, it's different with more than a month's notice. now that it's 2 maybe 3 weeks, it's starting to get tight...

I think these things work best if you basically say, "It's this day. Can you make it?" Then, if a lot of people say "the next week is better for me" then you move it.

If it's the 14th, I probably can't, it will depend on what time I get back into town. I have a couple of other Christmas events to go to this year as well, which are already scheduled.

C'mon, G. It's awfully hard to decide less than a week in advance if it's the 7th.

If I set a date I'm not gonna move it.
Making and changing reservations willy-nilly isn't really something you want to do if you:
A) have any respect for the staff
B) want good service.

Scheduling events far in the future is great, if people actually show up, and if you have a good reason for doing it.
No one else had taken it upon themselves to do this, and I was asked to do so by a couple club members. If you want to schedule it far in advance next year, feel free to do so, but don't bother reserving too many seats, that has backfired in the past for me... Nothing like having half your reservations pull a no-show with no notice and piss off the staff. :)

It will be on the 14th at 6:30 pm

I'm not making a reservation, it will be in the lounge.
If you wish to attend, please feel free to do so.

If anyone else needs a ride from calgary (or wants to save on gas money) I will be driving the diesel up there, and have 1 (or 2 if you are ok with being squishy) more spots.

AWWWW i'm not old enough to go into the lounge

Shouldn't be an issue.... unless you order drinks.

I'm glad it wasn't this weekend... I've spent the better part of the last week with my wife in the hospital. She's home now and recuperating, so next week looks good.

Thanks Barry, for putting it together!

Supra_devil

6:30ish should work well and leave enough time for the calgary folk to get home.

Barry thought he had posted that but missed it.
