Everyone probably remembers that almost-mint 83 I picked up a while back. If you don't, there's a thread in the Member Rides section.

There it is, actually. I'll work on getting the pictures back up, but honestly, it doesn't need them. There are precisely three rust spots, and none of them are a cause for concern. One is just under the gas tank. The paint there has flaked off and the metal is lightly dusted with surface rust. A wire brush and some POR-15 for good measure, a little bit of touch-up painting, and she's good. There's a tiny spot on the passenger side in the rocker under the door that is identical. It's somewhere between the size of a dime and a nickel.
The third one is the hatch, but we all know that in a worst-case scenario, hatches come off. Underside on the driver's side, like usual. Something probably got stuck in one of the drain holes.
The engine is perfect. I couldn't possibly ask any more from it. If you PM me asking about 'how it is mechanically,' I'm going to ignore you. This car is a few days of elbow grease away from being a show car.
I paid $3500 for it. I am the second owner.
Here are the conditions under which I will sell it:
- You pay me $3500 for it. I am thus eating all of the time and money I have spent replacing the odd little piece that was missing or imperfect, and the TRD leather shift knob. ;) I figure that's a fair trade for the couple thousand kms I put on it. I will not accept any less than this, so if you're going to try to haggle with me, fuck off. For less than that, I'll keep it.
- You can prove to me that you have a garage to keep it in for the winter. This car has seen ONE winter in twenty five years, and that's where the couple rust spots started springing up from. It IS undercoated exceptionally well, so the bottom of it is fine, but we all know that's not the only concern here.
- You're not a douche and I don't hate you.
I'm happy to sell this car to someone who's going to take care of it, but don't for a second think that you somehow have the upper hand because you have money and I want it. I don't. I'd much rather have this car, but I'm quickly realizing that what I want is not a mint, low-mileage garage queen. It's a nice thing to have, it's really neat, and it gets a lot of looks, which is cool, but I want a car I'm not going to feel bad modifying the shit out of. As such, if you want to give me shit or attitude or pull the whole "well fine then don't take my money" stunt, I'm fine with that.
If no one wants it, I'll keep it. I have a garage to keep it in for the winter, I have no problems with that. Failing all else, I'm going to have the 7M-GTE rebuilt with the new turbo on it and drop that in.
Conveniently, I also have a '90 7M-GTE to '83 Chassis sub-harness.
