Hello,
I am hoping to settle on a date to meet with everyone interested in taking part in the Supra documentary.
I have proposed Oct 13th as a time to meet and provide the details of the project to those who wish to offer their knowledge and skills.
The meeting shouldn't take more than an hour or so. So let me know by posting on this forum who can do what and when, etc.
The first stage will be coming together to take the car apart. That will be alot of fun to film. The more the merrier. Bring your tools and tips and we'll endeavor to dis-assemble.

Hey,
I thought day jobs might be problem so I had no plans to begin the tear down until after we all had a chance to meet.
Perhaps Sunday the 14th of October might suit better. That way we can all have a chance to attend.
I propose Sunday around 1 p.m., just after lunch. We can meet at my garage over in Capilano.
Interest and able interested persons can email me at:
betabake@hotmail.com
or post their RSVP here on the forum.
I am trying to co-ordinate having the car hauled to the city in time for the meeting so that we can have a look at it while we discuss the details.
I would request that if interested, members let me know asap so that the process can be planned and production can get underway.

If it all goes as planned the 14th works great for me. I should be back from Calgary....a little hung over and hard of hearing but I should be back by then.

Tempting. I couldn't offer a LOT of help, but this would be cool to be involved with.

Hey,
Thanks for your responses. I think that either the 13th or 14th will work. Put it this way, if all goes according to plan, the project car will be in my garage in Edmonton by then.
As many as can make it will gather, talk, exchange ideas and thoughts. At the very least we can all get a look at the car and get a better idea of what we're dealing with.
The car came into my world starting out as being only a parts source, however I am happy to see the possibility to make something more of it. The way I see it, a group of Supra drivers have the opportunity to dis-assemble a Supra and learn a little something along the way.
Should be fun.

Hey,
For the record, I doubt if anyone in this club or else where would know less about these cars than I do. By all means, if you have the time please consider yourself invited.
I have been driving my Supra since '99 and not a moment goes by without a thought of what the restoration process might be like.
There is nothing to lose here. For a mere $100 I have managed to save what I consider a beautiful piece of automotive design from the weekly rescue drills of the local fire department.
At the very least, and I do mean the very least, this project represents an opportunity for everyone to take part in taking on of these cars apart and learning a little something along the way. Heck, at least the parts car will become a parts department and will be easier to store.
The artist who will be painting the car has already begun the design of the paint scheme. He is PUMPED about doing so. I have a space where the car can sit throughout the process and I am really looking forward to filming the project.
Complete details of the project will be revealed at the October 13/14 meeting. Not that they are a big secret, just that some things are better left to live presentation.
Personally, I've watched so many "pimp my ride/fix my car/over hauling" type shows that I really do not see why a determined bunch of Supra fans couldn't do the same.
The project is open to everyone. Consider yourselve invited.

A noble cause. Damned if I won't try to get up there to see it.

Hey,
Update on the project car...
Spoke to the tow truck driver today and he felt positive the project car will be in Edmonton for the 13/14 weekend.
I will be riding in with him and plan to be around the entire weekend. I look forward to seeing you all then.
Just to put a bug out there, the artist is looking for a diagram of the Supra's body panels, you know as in the type of books the parts guys would use to order pieces for your car.
I have a Chilton manual, however he is looking for a sort of side profile, top view type diagram from which to create a template for the panels he'll be painting.
I've provided him with a scale plastic model kit, the kind you glued together as a kid, but the instruction sheet is mostly 3-D type drawings.
Anyone know of a website or book that might provide a good clean side view/top view of the Supra body lines?

No problem...
The project car I expect will take more than one gathering to accomplish plus the video will provide a record for all to enjoy.
Drive safe.
