My buddy Tim (with the Camaro) and I have planned, weather permitting, to hit the track on the 14th for one last blast before the season ends. I thought it would be cool to get some members out, if anyone's interested. Even if you don't think your car is fast enough or whatever, it's a good time and an opportunity to set a baseline for future mods.

As usual, if the car's running...

I'd come if the engine would jump into the car :P

Hmm. That sounds like a good idea. Not only should I be able to break into 15's with the lower altitude and all (I have noticed a roughly 5 kPa (0.7psi) increase between here and Edmonton), it would also be nice to get comparison #'s for whatever I may do over the winter (as Bob said).
Although that is quite the drive simply to hit the drag strip.

As much fun as it would be to get together, why don't the southern members just go to Race City? Conditions may differ a little, but it would save the long trip. If anything breaks, you won't be stuck. We could still post our results, and if anything really needs to be settled there's always next year!

because the dragstrip at race city is a piece of shit - i can own people in my truck just because it has 4wd, even though its over 4000 lb it would prolly be faster than the supra. 'traction issues' doesnt begin to describe the problems
but whatever, depends on what the rest of the calgary crew wants to do - im always up for a trip to E town to pester the crap out of glenn =D

You're telling me. Last time I was at Race City, I spun to the top of 2nd gear. Granted, my tires WERE cold :)

Sorry guys,
I need to bail.
I am going to be enjoying an evening of wine, art and food. I had forgot that I was already to be in attendance of this event prior to my post.
I will catch the next street legal event.
Bob,
We are still on for the next time you are at the track! :D

That's okay Mikey, I know how it is to be whipped.. I mean chicken....
The way you've been improving your times it's a good thing you're missing a week, half a second at a time and you'd be running 12's before winter! I probably won't be out again til spring, but we're still a go.

I had a fun time there last friday. It was good to see you guys again, all though you left too early. Just after you left I ran a personal best of 13.91 @ 100.14. I couldn't believe how much better that track is then Race City. I was running about 50 PSI in my tires and still had my best ever 60' time. I'll for sure be going back in the spring

Congrats on hitting 13's!
Yeah, it was a good night overall. We had some spectators with us who didn't realize that it might get cool when the sun went down, hence the early exit. I found some of the delays frustrating, but I guess that comes with the number of quick cars out that night. More power, more breakage. The nitrous explosion was awesome!
As for my showing, I was disappointed. I improved my best ET slightly, to 14.707 from 14.755. I tried to raise boost, but my homemade boost controller ran out of travel. (Since fixed!) Couldn't hit third gear cleanly all night, either. I think the car would have gone 14.5 if I could have shifted it. Better things will follow, as I have added bigger injectors, a bigger IC, and had a little time to work on the engine tune.
Comin' to get ya, Mike!

That's frustrating knowing the car is capable of more and not being able to take advantage of it. I've felt that before.
I was actually hitting boost cut on most of my runs but I figured if I backed off slightly to keep it from cutting out that it would be quicker. I guess it worked, I got one good clean run in which was my fastest
Yeah it did get pretty cool later on. I saw your son take off to run the other car but I didn't see him after that. Did he actually run or was he too late?

Sounds like we both could be faster...
Yeah, my son got a run in. 17.3 with an old, stock, N/A SR20 and FWD. We hope to improve on that for next year too.
