Well, it's definitely not a NEW car, and it's not a Supra either...... but it's close.
I needed to drive something while I rebuild my 1JZ, so I bought Keegan's old RA64 coupe (83 Celica GT). I forgot to take pictures while it was still light out, I'll take them in the next few days.
Pros:
- It's a celica coupe. I mean come on, it's rare.
- The interior is near mint. There's no rips or fading in ANYTHING except a small section of the dash, and I even have a clean dash to swap that out with too.
- It's a 5 speed :)
- It starts, and runs really great. I mean it's a 22R, it'll never die.
- very minor rust. Some surface rust around the wheel wells, and a few spots around windows. A day with a grinder, some rust converter, and some fiberglass/bondo, and it'll be perfect
- It has an A/C, and apperantly it works. I just need to go get a drive belt for the pump, and I'll find out.
- Supra wheels :)
Cons:
- There's grafitti all over the exterior. Keegan managed to get a lot off with a power washer, and I managed to get a bunch more off with some acetone, but it's screaming out for a paint job.
- Some oil and grease stains on the carpet inside, but that should be cleanable.
- The clutch is almost gone, and with my driving, i'm sure I'll kill it in short order.
- The tires are almost toast, but that's no biggie.
- Front main seal leaks EVERYWHERE. It's a 360* spray of oil all over the engine bay.
- Brakes leak fluid too.
- It's missing a few trim pieces, but nothing that can't be had in a junkyard.
- one of the headlights is stuck down.
All it needs is a coolant leak, and I have all the leaking fluids covered :).... or should I say, I'll have the road covered with all the leaking fluids.
All in all, I'm impressed with the vehicle. The problems with it are minor, fixable issues. The vehicle itself is in good shape, especially the interior! I spent a few hours vacuuming, washing, armorall-ing the interior, and it's looking like a new car almost. I also found a TON of change in it. Now all I need to do is get the exterior looking as nice as the interior, and I'll be sooo happy.
shit, I need to finish with the Supra rebuild so I can work on the Celica. Oh no, I've turned into one of those insane multuple Toyota vehicle owners with endless fix-up projects!
