Hi Everyone,

I am just about finished wiring in my apexi S AFC II. I have 2 questions or should I say concerns. I have not reconnected the battery as of yet.

Concern # 1 According to the wiring diagram by model supplied by Apexi, the Supra has a Karman Type frequency sensor ECU (pg15) However according to the specific wiring diagram T5-a (pg 23) there are two Knocking signal wires which is specific to the RB26DETT ECU pg 8 I have wired according to the RB26DETT as there are two knocking signal wires on this application. There is only one knocking signal wire for the Karman Type Frequency Sensor ECU (pg 9) Did I select correct and wire according to the RB26DETT?

Concern # 2 In the instructions it mentions to "cut the airflow signal wire
or pressure signal wire of the vehcile harness and install a plug by
referring to the vehicle specific wiring diagram." Plug: ECU Side, Plug
Receptical: Airflow pressure sensor side. "Vehicles equiped with the
RB26DETT have 2 airflow signal wires. Cut these 2 wires" I have cut these
two wires and wired them accordingly. My question is that I have cut the 2
"airflow signal wires" or should I say knocking signal wires and attached
them accordingly, but yet I still have a single Airflow Signal wire. (pg 23)
that is still intact. Was this done incorrect or do I need to wire to the
Karman Type Frequency sensor ECU, or should I just cut the sole airflow
signal wire and cap them off?

I am a little confused on this matter as the instructions are not 100%
clear. I have not reconnected the power to the car and do not plan to untill
this issue has been resolved.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Nikolai

my advice...
first thing first, send off an email to apexi.
second, check on www.supraforums.com
i know this issue has been covered there a few times, and im sure that with patience youll find the information you need.

unfortunately, i cant help you very much, but im curious why your using the rb26dett instructions?
is there nothing offered for the 7mgte?
have you tried googling for "7mgte S AFC II installation" or something similar?

i know your not the only one whos experienced trouble installing one, and im sure that somewhere there is documentation on how its done. :)

best of luck mike.

Hi Barry,

The RB26DETT is a type of ECU. The wiring instructions specify under the engine code the Karman Type Frequency sensor, but when you read the instructions it is telling me to use the RB26DETT.

I think I may search the supra forums. Failing that I will buy a stick of dynamyte and blow my car up! ha ha ha

did you get it wired last night?

Hi Andriy and Barry,

The operation was a success. I reattached the two knock signal wires that I cut in error, spliced the purple (knocking signal) wire from the SAFC II into the knockig signal wire 2. I wired the Orange and Pink wire according tho the Karman Frequency type. Thanks Andriy for posting that up. As for my solid check engine light, I have that beat. After I had installed it and while I was in the set up menu, I had set up everything correctly, however I forgot to initialize the unit. I wanted to clear the previous settings from the previous owner. I initialized the unit and then got sidetracked with something else and forgot I had initialized the unit. It hit me like a brick last night at 2:30 am. I went into the garage re set it back up and the car ran smoothly with no check engine light. So all that is left now is to bolt the ECU back in and reinstall my glovebox.
