I have a 1995 supra n/a 5-sp with 104k.I have had new plugs and wires, new speed sensor#2 in the tranny (this one done by a shop, turned out not a defective sensor$$$)Had a suggestion from another supra owner to touch up solder on the odometer circuit board (did that). It was pulling codes 31 & 42,now just pulling #42 which turns out to be sp. sensor#1 in the odometer. The car stalls when slowing to stop, sometimes it's weeks between stalls,I can gun the gas when it starts to stall and it will jerk and pick up speed. If I dont turn the key off and restart it will continue to stall as I'm approaching a stop. Also the cruise works sporadically and the a/c cools sometimes and sometimes it doesn't(It has coolant in it)I haven't noticed the speedometer messin up but I reset the trip odometer one day and it took several miles of travel before it moved from 0.Hope this covers everything so You dont have to waste much of your time. Please if you have any ideas let me know.It will be very appreciated...thanks

wow, thats a lot of problems, i would doubt they are all connected, but it may be possible. i don't have enough experiance with the later model supras and the electrical problems and setups.

You have tried supraforums right? and mkiv.com ? those would definetly be better places to start looking than here i would think.

Yeah, Iv'e posted everywhere.Someone suggested cutting some wires in the dash and doing some bypassing but I want to try everything I can before resorting to that(may not have a choice) Thanks for the reply

Definetly sounds like a problem in the speedo cluster. I know my 89 auto wont run right if the speed sensor is not detected. Not sure where the speedo sensor is on the mkiv. If there is one on the tranny I would check there as well. If u have access to some used parts, you may want to try swapping some of the speedo sesnor parts out. Like Supra_Devil siad, I to dont have any reeal experience with the mkiv's so take my advice accordingly lol. Good luck

Good call Marc on the cluster sensor. Even if the connection has been re-soldered if it is bad it will still be bad. As for the one on the tranny is was replaced right?
Any other work done to the car? Alarms installed or removed? That type of thing, it sounds like you have a loose connector or a short some were. have you check the wires to and from the sending units for connection? Some one could have clipped the wiring harness under the dash.

OH! Check the boost controller connections and Turbo timer. Or see if there was one before. They tap the same sending wires for calculations. Hope this helps

Humm Just read n/a right. forget the last part then and make sure your ignition system is gounded well.

I had a different stereo installed when I first got tha car but Not so sure this started around this time and I had a new wiper control handle installed at toyota (around 300 bucks*ouch*)and a couple months later when I tried to use the washer fluid I realized they hooked it up wrong:mad:
The button for back wiper works the front and the front works the back.
kinda makes the trust level go down for those "qualified " folks.Ha.Ha.
Anyway whats done is done and after 2 months I'm sure they would've said I waited to long to point out their mistake.Should've checked it out better than just making sure the wipers work. Thanks to everyone for your input......

well that should be a clue...if they clipped some wires and just taped them up then maybe they have started to work loose. black tape dose not stick well hot. i would pull the glove box and the console and look for a wad of tape in the wrong place.

I took the advice of a fellow supra owner and spliced some wires in the odometer. Now no more codes, cruise problem solved and car seems to be running better than ever.Seems it had something to do with speed buffering. Thanks to everyone for their advice,I am grateful.:D
